Suburb Profile:

Archerfield

Located in Brisbane’s South West, approximately 11 kilometres from the CBD, Archerfield is a transport oriented, and primarily commercial suburb. Home to Brisbane’s first commercial airport, Archerfield has established itself as an aviation-focused suburb where residential properties are few in comparison to the large air fields and industrial precincts.

Following the Government’s decision to move the primary airport to Eagle Farm in 1948, Archerfield became not only a light aircraft and passenger plane airfield, but an education and employment hub. The development that occurred around this area after this time had an industrial focus with an aviation edge.

Now, Archerfield’s position in relation to the city, as well as major inbound and outbound arterials has seen it develop into an industrial centre, especially when combined with neighboring Acacia Ridge.
